Olympus Aquatics offers training, practice, and lesson groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of Olympus Aquatics to offer age specific training for all of our athletes, geared toward challenging each swimmer and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

Athletes interested in joining the age group competitive swim team are evaluated by attending a practice. Please contact coachthorum@gmail.com to schedule an evaluation and to confirm that there are no conflicts with the usual practice time. Please do NOT register until this evaluation has been completed.

Tools for swimmers and parents
OLYMPUS AQUATICS SWIM TEAM TRAINING GROUPS
10-under Beta (Swimming at Olympus) and 10-under Gamma (Swimming at Sportsmall): This group’s objective is to prepare young swimmers for competitive swimming and training in a fun and nurturing environment. Emphasis is placed on correct stroke mechanics and proper competitive turns and starts.
Swimmers in this group are working to achieve their first State Qualifying Times.
Prerequisites:
• Ages 6-10.
• Must be able to swim 25 yards in each of the four competitive strokes.
• Minimum recommended attendance of three practices / week.
• Minimum recommended attendance of one swim meet / month.
• Required attendance at State Championship meets.
10-under Alpha (Swimming at Olympus): This group’s objective is to develop a swimmer’s love of competitive swimming in a fun, nurturing, and challenging environment. Emphasis is placed on sportsmanship, proper stroke mechanics, competitive techniques, aerobic conditioning, and good training habits.
Prerequisites:
• Ages 8-10
• Must have achieved one (1) or more 10&Under State Championship qualifying times.
• Minimum required attendance of three practices / week.
• Minimum required attendance of one swim meet / month.
• Required attendance at State Championship meets.
11-12 Beta (Swimming at Olympus) 11-12 Gamma (Swimming at Sportsmall): This group’s objective is to prepare young swimmers for advanced competitive swimming. Emphasis is placed on learning good training habits, sportsmanship, correct stroke mechanics, proper competitive techniques, and aerobic conditioning. These swimmers are working toward achieving State Qualifying Times and progressing to a higher level of competitive swimming.
Prerequisites:
• Ages 11-12
• Must be able to swim 25 yards in each of the four competitive strokes.
• Minimum recommended attendance of three practices / week.
• Minimum recommended attendance of one swim meet / month.
• Required attendance at State Championship meets.
11-12 Alpha (Swimming at Olympus): This group’s objective is to develop the swimmer’s competitive techniques, sportsmanship, race strategies, psychological skills, aerobic conditioning, and physical fitness. Emphasis is placed on proper stroke mechanics, competitive techniques, aerobic conditioning, and physical fitness. Swimmers are working toward qualifying for regional/national championship meets (Far West, Western Zones, etc.).
Prerequisites:
• Ages 11-12
• Must have achieved three (3) or more 11-12 State Championship qualifying times.
• Minimum required attendance of four practices / week.
• Minimum required attendance of one swim meet / month.
• Required attendance at State Championship meets.
13-14 Beta (Swimming at Olympus) and 13-14 Gamma (Swimming at Sportsmall): This group’s objective is to prepare swimmers for advanced competitive and / or high school swimming. Emphasis is placed on learning good sportsmanship, training habits, correct stroke mechanics, proper competitive techniques, aerobic conditioning, and physical fitness.

Emphasis is placed on competitive techniques, race strategies, rigorous aerobic conditioning, rigorous physical fitness, and competitive psychological skills. Swimmers are working toward qualifying for regional/national championship meets (Age Group Zones, Senior Zones, Sectionals, Nationals).
Prerequisites:
• Ages 13-14
• Must have achieved three (3) or more 13-14 State Championship qualifying times.
• Minimum required attendance of five practices / week.
• Minimum required attendance of one swim meet / month.
• Required attendance at State Championship meets.
Senior Beta (Swimming at Olympus) and Senior Gamma (Swimming at Sportsmall): This group’s objective is to prepare swimmers for advanced competitive and / or high school swimming. Emphasis is placed on learning good sportsmanship, training habits, correct stroke mechanics, proper competitive techniques, aerobic conditioning, and physical fitness.
Prerequisites:
• Ages 15 and Over
• Must be able to swim 25 yards in each of the four competitive strokes.
• Minimum recommended attendance of three practices / week.
• Minimum recommended attendance of one swim meet / month.
• Required attendance at State Championship meets.
Senior Alpha: This group’s objective is to prepare the competitive swimmer for the next level of competitive swimming. Emphasis is placed on competitive techniques, race strategies, rigorous aerobic conditioning, rigorous physical fitness, and competitive psychological skills. Swimmers are working toward qualifying for regional/national championship meets (Age Group Zones, Senior Zones, Sectionals, Nationals)
Prerequisites:
• Ages 15 and Over
• Must have achieved three (3) or more Senior State Championship qualifying times.
• Minimum required attendance of six practices / week.
• Minimum required attendance of one swim meet / month.
• Required attendance at State Championship meets.
Note: Swimmers may be invited/allowed to temporarily attend other groups when approved or invited by the coach. This may occur at the coach’s discretion for various reasons including; scheduling conflict, group transition, or individual training needs. This DOES NOT AUTHORIZE A GROUP CHANGE or change the swimmer’s billing group.
